From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1950: “A spectacular new white from a famous introducer. The crisp, firm flowers with closely domed standards and semi-flaring falls are large and very white, surmounted by a thick brilliant gold beard. This combination suggests a naval officer in white with rich gold shoulder ornaments. Fine spacing of flowers, a husky grower, 36 to 42 inches in height.”
From Lloyd Austin’s Rainbow Offerings 1954 “Crisp firm flowers are large and very white, surmounted by a thick brilliant gold beard suggesting a naval officer in white with rich gold shoulder ornaments. Bred in New England and perfectly hardy throughout the country.”
((Pale Moonlight x Gudrun) X Snowking), HM 1948.
