From Cornell Extension Bulletin 112: “Color effect a bluish lavender, velvety violet veined bicolor. S. bluish lavender with yellow claw. F. velvety fluorite violet, edged grayish lavender, and bearing a lavender line thru the center of the segment. Veined broadly on the lighter outer haft.
The beard is conspicuous orange colored. The flower is distinct in its color markings, and the plant is stiff and slender in leaf and stalk. The medium flowering habit is balanced by good size and color, thus making the plant useful in mass and as a cut flower. Rating 85.”
From Rainbow Gardens catalog for 1925: “S. pale lavender-violet; F velvety raison-purple with broad lavender border. Distinct and very handsome.”
From Bonnewitz Irises catalog for 1926: “S. pale lavender-violet; F. raisin purple of velvety texture, with a pale lavender border. This is a splendid selling variety, and we personally like it very much.”
