From Eden Road Iris Garden catalog for 1956: “ML. 36 in. Ruffled medium blue of heavy substance. This great iris has all good points, form, charm, appeal, fine bloom placement on well branched stalks, and is a vigorous grower.”

From Mission Gardens catalog for 1958: “A large and most impressive bright medium blue. The domed standards are large and full. The flaring falls are broad hafted and strong. The beard is orange changing to blue at tip. The dark blue buds are an added attraction several days before they open. This is a very fine real blue iris of outstanding merit. 36 inches.”

From Schreiner’s catalog for 1961: “This outstanding big blue won the Dykes Medal in 1947. Of smooth medium blue color, large in size and quite ruffled, a sturdy growing iris with every good point. It is one of the most sought after varieties of the day.”
