Full Description

TB 32″ M S5L

From Schreiners Iris Lovers catalog for 1941 (its intor year): “This seedling is a worthy introduction from a sincere and enthusiastic iris devotee, a newcomer to the hybridizer ranks. The old iris King Krl enjoyed great popularity and we feel sure that the people who liked King Karl will appreciate Freckles. It reduplicates the manner and informality of this old variety’s coloring scloser than any other yellow plicata. Freckles has rich tone of cream yellow for a background, covered with small fleckings of light chocolate brown. So dexterously and delicately are the slender markings applied the flower has more boyant charm and delicacy of embellishment than enjoyed by other yellow plicatas. A blithely colored flower. It is well branched on 32″ stalks, hardy, well substanced flowers.”

From Schreiner’s Iris Lover’s catalog for 1947: “A yellow plicata with light chocolate markings and fleckings on a rich creamy-yellow background. Reminiscent of the old variety King Karl.”

From National Iris Gardens catalog for 1948: “Freckles is the name! A yellow plicata whose rich cream yellow background is dexterously colored with light chocolate markings. Charming, informal flower.”

From Marble Iris Gardens catalog for 1952: ” …This charming and informal Iris grows well and is short enough to plant in the foreground for landscaping.”
