From The Wing Seed Co. catalog for 1920: “New. S. deep gold; F. brilliant chestnut-brown with narrow border of gold; style arms gold.”

From Cornell Extension Bulletin #112, 1925: “Color effect a yellow velvety red brown bi-color. S. light cadmium to empire yellow. F. velvety morocco red to claret brown, veined the same over light inner part of segment.
The beard is fine, dense, and orange yellow. This plant is a vigorous compact grower and produces flowering stalks freely. The spathes are green, inflated, and very prominent when in bud. This is one of the best ten varieties and is also very showy in color mass. Rating 75.”

From Rainbow Gardens catalog for 1925: “S. deep gold; F. brilliant chestnut-brown with a narrow border of gold. This takes the place of and is superior to Honorabile.”
