Full Description

From AIS checklist : “Early to midseason bloom. Color code = W1B. Blue-white self. ‘New Snow‘ X ‘Chivalry‘. Cottage Iris Gard 1963. High Commendation 1961.”

Note: I have never seen a listing in an old catalog for this iris. Despite its scarcity in being offered when it was relatively ‘modern’ it lives on today and can be found in some historic collections’.

Provenance: Image 1,2 are from garden of L Munro, Newfoundland NJ 2009,2015; iris acquired from Jean Rhihter/Gesine Lohr 2001. Yes, these two images are blooms from the SAME plant. Strangely, it does look ‘silver white’ in the daylight, and it looks light blue in the dusk. Go figure!
