From Walter Marx Gardens catalog for 1956: “For several years we have looked forward to introducing our first marbled iris. We have selected two seedlings out of Nishiki-Gi for introduction this year. Both stand out distinctly and differ considerably from their illustrious parent. We think the name Hall Of Marble aptly applies to this seedling because of the varied color patterns apparant in all blooms. Ground color is off white near pale blue marbled Royal Purple more or less over the central portion and shading to violet marking on the outer areas of the flower. Upright white styles are stippled violet. Ruffled 7 inch flowers above stiff foliage on 3 to 3½ foot stems. Midseason to late.”

(Unknown X Nishiki-gi).
