Full Description
TB 40″ M
From Iris Color Guidebook – Rainbow Iris Gardens 1958: “Everyone has been asking for a red horned Iris. Here is the finest one to date. A striking red bitone with very prominent horns. Standards pink, flushed golden-bronze. Falls crimson, prominent gold network at hafts. Beard heavy, bright yellow, ending in a prominent horn 1/2″ to 1″ long, often curved sharply upward in a most interesting and distinctive manner, as shown in Ektachrome image (below). Brightest of all horned iris. Most usefulof any to the enterprising iris hybridizer. Pollen abundant, fertile;sets seed readily. Thus you can readily get the highly interesting variable F2 generation. Has a spread of about 6″, making it the largest of horned iris. Tall, splendidly branched”.
Standards pink flushed gold-bronze with crimson falls. Beard is yellow, ending in a rosy ½”-1″ horn.
(JS-M-176B x 638) X Pink Formal).
The pod parent combination is also seen in others of Austin; Plumed Delight, Unicorn and Horned Royalty to note a few.
