From National Iris Gardens catalog for 1940: “A stunning color of clear rich, wine purple that carries well and makes a strikingly beautiful mass. Blossoms are large and oval with closed S. and downfalling F., showing white beard. A thrifty grower and good propagator that is considered the very best in its color class.”
From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1941: “Very brilliant light violet purple, brighter than Magenta and lighter in tone than Itasca. Rather large flowers, self colored.”
From Long’s Gardens catalog for 1947: “Glorious true purple.”
From Schreiner’s catalog 1947: “A rich true purple, large sized, a self. Good substance and fine oval form. A thrifty grower and good propagator. Unexcelled for massing, it makes a gorgeous rich clump of color with unusual carrying power.”
