From Schreiner’s Iris Lovers catalog for 1982: “An invitation to excellence and something especially different. Invitation is a clear colored good sized pink amoena, having 2 short branches with 5 to 6 buds. Its pristine white standards invite the warmth of the light pink-apricot falls. In addition this gem, if given appropriate cultural conditions, has a pronounced tendency for recurrent bloom in the fall. This past season we had 60% bloom in August-September. We think this was ‘overperforming’. For the adventurous gardener … this is an Invitation.”
