From Schreiner’s Iris Lover’s Catalog 1961: “ML 38″
King’s Choice is the richest deepest midnight blue we have ever seen. Its substance is so heavy as to be definitely leathery. A true self of clean, rich (not dusty) coloring with a heavy silken sheen. A superb iris of great dignity.”

Note: Schreiners describes their iris as ‘dark blue’ rather than purple although it may appear more purple, we use Schreiner’s description of color for this iris.
