From Bay View Gardens catalog for 1981: “For some time we have contended real advancements in browns and reds would come through tangerine breeding. Browns are now a fact; and now for the first time we are ready to release the first ‘red’ from that breeding. A glittering garnet; a new color makes its debut in the iris galaxy. Tall and well branched with vigor like weeds. We have had up to 25 increases from one rhizome; hence the relatively early release. One of the first to bloom with beautiful disease-free pine-green foliage.”
