From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1937: “The sensational new seedling of the famous variety W.R. Dykes. A really magnificent flower in clear primrose yellow, with firm silken texture. It is one of the most stupendous in size and foliage in our collection.
“We have several reports of excellent success in Nebraska, Ohio, and New England, where this iris was grown the past season. Not nearly so deeply colored as either California Gold or Happy Days, it is nonetheless one of the most beautiful varieties we have ever flowered, and will take its place among the best.”
From Robert Wayman’s catalog for 1940: “The sensational new soft primrose yellow similar to W.R. Dykes, but on taller stems, better formed and a clearer color. The color illustration on page 16, which is about half size, does not begin to do it justice, as there is a smoothness of finish and clarity of color that is not shown in the illustration. It is unquestionably the finest in its class. Now offered for the fist time at a moderate price.”
From Iris City Gardens catalog for 1940: “The large, smoothly finished flowers of clear primrose yellow are proudly carried, lasting well through early to midseason. It has proved to be a perfectly dependable bloomer here for several years.”
