From GG Whitelegg & Co 1921 “Very strong grower with massive flowers of great size. (S) lavender blue, (F) rich deepviolet-blue. A fine Iris. AMI., R.H.S”
From Rainbow Gardens catalog for 1925: “An exceedingly handsome Iris of huge proportions. S. of lavender blue; F. rich violet blue. Very bold and vigorous habit. One of the finest of the Irises and much sought after. 40 in.”
From Iris of Quality Iris Gardens, 1927: “A very large, light bicolor. S. chicory blue; F lavender violet, drooping. This iris is universally admired. A fine show flower. Fragrant”.
From Treholme Gardens catalog for 1928: “S. light lavender-blue; F. deeper shade reticulated brown; sweetly scented; prominent yellow beard. A large flower of good form, only fault being that standards lack substance. A bicolor that always attracts attention.”
From Puget Sound catalog 1928-29: “An exceedingly handsome iris of noble proportions. Standards of lavender blue and falls rich violet blue; very bold and vigorous habit. Height 3-4 ft. Mr. John Wister Pres of AIS says “LORD of JUNE and LADY FOSTER are by all odds the finest iris I have ever seen”.”
