From National Iris Gardens catalog for 1948: “(Kleinsorge, 1946) Tall dark maroon self. Like a rich brocade in a regal pattern of velvety deep maroon falls, softer silken standards, maroon tipped, golden style arms; beard and haft of gold. One of the last to bloom. Flowers are fragrant.”.
