From Rainbow Gardens catalog for 1925: “One of the most striking yellow varieties. A greatly improved Maori King, about 30 in. high. S. pale golden yellow; F. deep purple-brown with a bright yellow margin.”

From Treholme Gardens catalog for 1928: “S. pale golden yellow; F. deep purple-brown, bright yellow margin. A very striking yellowish-brown effect. On the order of Maori King but larger and taller. Darker also than Iris king.”

From Indian Spring Farms catalog for 1931: “Very bright and striking. S. golden yellow; F. purple-brown, with yellow border. 2½ ft.”
