From Quality Gardens catalog for 1930: “A tall upstanding bicolor of a strong reddish cast, the rich Dahlia purple falls giving the dominant color note. Very large flowers, This was shown in England in 1927 and 1928 and attracted a great deal of attention and admiration.”

From Oakhurst Gardens catalog for 1939: “A tall, upstanding bi-color of a strong reddish cast, the rich Dahlia purple falls giving the dominant color note. Very large flowers beginning early and continuing over a long season. As a garden plant in a class with San Gabriel and Frieda Mohr, and between the two in blooming season.”
