From Cornell Extension Bulletin 112: “Color effect a bronzed yellow, red-brown veined bicolor. Standards mustard yellow tinged old gold, reticulated brown on the claw. Falls velvety maroon. Veins on the cream-colored outer haft coalescing on the lower blade, thus forming its solid color. Reticulations brown on the yellow haft. Beard fine, dense, projecting, orange, brown tipped.

This plant is of vigorous growth and has stiff, broad, green leaves, tinged at the base. The medium-tall, heavy stems are numerous and well supplied with large open blooms. The waved, brilliantly colored flowers are good in mass effect or for cut flowers. Rating 74.”

From The Wing Seed Co. catalog for 1920: “S. light bronze-yellow shaded lavender; F. deep maroon heavily veined white and yellow; style arms yellow; beard deep orange. Large flower of heavy texture, bold and handsome. All divisions very broad and ruffled. Twenty inches.”
