From the Wanganui Iris catalog for 1965-66: “A clean, wonderfully smooth, even colored silver-lilac with a quiet beard, this distinct and new pastel toned flower is large, of excellent substance and with a lovely glistening texture. Quite unlike any of the other orchid toned irises owing to its silver over-tones it yet belongs to that color class. A lovely iris harmonizing in any colour scheme.”
From inbreeding yellow and pink amoenas and rose-toned derivatives of Mary Randall.
Not known to exist in the USA. It could exist in New Zealand where it was hybridized.
