From Fleur de Lis Gardens catalog for 1969: “When we first saw this we could hardly believe our eyes. We just sat down by it and looked and looked and looked, for it was at long last the pink we had envisioned and dreamed about and hoped for from the moment we saw Seashell and Overture. After we had looked and looked we arose and doing so gave it its first “Standing Ovation.” Needless to say we have given it many more since then, for this one always affects us that way. It is truly PINK, not just a routine pink but one in which the color has gone all the way. A deep rich pink that has to be seen to be believed. It is large, with extra broad petals and is smoothly finished and tailored much in the fashion of its ancestor Cameo Coral. Even a single frosted bloom last season drew all eyes and became the center of attention and we might add, the center of demand. It seems to be a good grower with rich purple based foliage and strong, well branched stalks. It may be seen along with Instant Sunshine [also intro’d this year] and others at the Roy Epperson, Steve Moldovan and Schreiner gardens this season.”
