From Melrose Gardens catalog for 1980: “Will we ever be able to solve the enigmas that Mother Nature is constantly challenging us with? Let’s hope not, not all of them at least. The thrill would be gone. For instance – from the same seed pod that produced the glorious tall bearded Iris Beverly Sills we get an equally rewarding, but diminutive, border iris, very much in proportion with thin, branched stems and correspondingly small flowers. And what flowers: very wide, rounded petals with standards domed and falls flaring horizontally, all in clear, clean and jewel-like light true pink with soft, unnoticeable tangerine beards. Won Best Seedling in show at the 1979 Region 14 all seedling show – and in Region 14 that is something!”
(Pink Pirouette X Vanity), HM 1982, AM 1984, Knowlton Medal 1986.
