From Wayman’s Rare Iris and Peonies 1938: “48 inches, I AM MAKING A LOW PRICE ON THIS VARIETY THIS YER TO GIVE IT WIDER DISTRIBUTION as it is one of the most reliable and most showy garden irises we have. It is of Ambassadeur x magnifica parentage, giving it a rugged constitution and is a prodigious bloomer. S soft violet blue; F deep velvety violet purple with a magnificantly veined throat. One of my own introductions.”
