From Longfield Iris Farm catalog for 1930: “Darker than Isoline and a vigorous doer with all Isoline’s stateliness. Height 36 inches, stalk well branched. Flowers large, similar in size and form to those of Isoline. Standards Light Lobelia. Falls Pansy Violet with tawny haft. This is one of the most admired Irises in our garden.”

From Linwood iris Gardens catalog for 1936: “Handsome, extra large flowers of gorgeous coloring and smooth enamel like finish. S. smokey lilac; F. A blending of crushed raspberry pink tinted and veined golden brown at the haft. Rich red-orange beard. 42 in. Robust and prolific, with fine well branched stalks. A dandy.”
