From Quality Gardens catalog for 1931: ” …Miss Sturtevant has stated ‘If the color were more unusual I should rate it at 98.’ However, there are so many of us who like the light blues and lavender blues, that we welcome an outstanding flower in these shades. This is a nearly perfect iris and we strongly recommend it.”

From Carl Salbach’s catalog for 1934: “This is the finest of the pure lavender blues. The size, substance, spreading horizontal falls, well branched stalks and vigor of growth entitle this beautiful iris to be rated the highest.”

From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1937: “Here we have an iris which approaches perfection in shape and size of its flowers, and in addition is possibly the finest and clearest lavender-blue so far produced. The exhibition rating of 91 is well deserved.”

From Robert Wayman’s catalog for 1940: “This fine American variety had the distinction of receiving an Award Of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society of England. It is one of the finest of the pure lavender-blues, of gigantic size and perfect form. …It must be seen to be appreciated.”
