Full Description

TB 30″ E W9D

From Fred DeForest’s Irisnoll for 1941: “Height to 30 inches. Eleven flowers to the stalk. Flowers are 5 X 5 inches. Standards are light cream, near white inside. Styles near white. Falls flaring, rounded, solid color of bronze overlaid “Indian lake”. Striking color combination, garden effect being “red” and “white”. Would show to better advantage on taller stalk. Each $20.00.”

From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1948: “A distinct and exciting combination of pale creamy yellow standards and red-toned falls. In sunny weather the standards are almost white. A vigorous grower and rapid increaser, with abundant branched stalks. In the originator’s garden it averaged 36 to 40 sic inches.”

From National Iris Gardens catalog for 1948: “L. 40″. …a distinctive combination of colors. The standards are creamy white, showing a sharp contrast to the falls of red-violet. Garden effect is red and white. Growth of plant is almost perfect.”

(Burning Bronze X Naranja).

Note: Notice these catalogs’ evolution from E 30″ to L 40″? In my garden in has averaged 28-30″ each year; and it is neither vigorous, nor of perfect growth. But it is cute. And I am one of three sisters – so it stays! sdt
