Full Description

TB 28″ EML, Eupogocyclus hybrid

From Eden Road Iris Garden 1955 catalog: “Here is an early oncobred, strong and vigorous. The standards are blue-lavender with a buffy-tan midrib. The falls from center down are a grayed, blue-lavender with a buffy-tan haft and heart. Falls are faintly bordered with buffy-tan at bottom. The beard is yellow deep down fading out to blue at tip of beard. The flowers are as large as any iris in commerce, and this might be called an improved Conquest. This one is an eye stopper and will give a long season of bloom.”

(W-1 Cream TB sdlg. of unknown parentage X Capitola), HM 1956; Clarence G. White Award 1960.

Note: The registration entry and the 1955 Introduction note a bloom season of EL (Late season, early), and probably should have been E-L. In the 1956 Eden Road catalog Gordon Plough corrects this to EML, matching the described ‘long bloom season’.
