Full Description

IMB E S6L

From Cayeux et LeClerc’s catalog for 1927: “(lutescens aurea X Suziana [sic]) S. greyish fawn, reticulated pale violet. F. yellow reticulated of purple violet, yellow beard, large flowers. Certificate of Merit S.N.H.F.”

From J.C. Nicholls Irises catalog for 1928: “Standards and falls amber shading into olive green with a hint of lavender, flaked and striated with deep purple maroon. Flowers large. It is early, hardy, and blooms freely over a long period. It is a hybrid of the bearded Iris, Lutescens Aurea, and the oncocyclus, Susiana. Quite different from any other. We consider it beautiful and appealing, and worthy of a place in every collection.”

From Oakhurst Gardens catalog for 1939: “S. creamy light gray, splashed violet; F. golden yellow, washed and streaked purple. 24 in.”

(Lutescens Aurea X susiana), CM SNHF 1912 & 1922, AM RHS 1933.
